Lower School Students Skype-a-Scientist

Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade students had an opportunity to Skype with Dr. Scarlett Evans, a researcher on gene mutations as part of the Skype-a-Scientist initiative. Students learned about the role that DNA plays in making us who we are and how gene mutations can cause diseases or possibly prevent diseases. Students learned that scientists in the field keep science notebooks, make hypotheses and use the scientific method, just like we do in class.
