School May Be Out But the Achievements Don’t End

Middle School students Rachel S. and Jordan M. were named as 2 of the official selections in the All American High School Photogfest competition. This is the first year that film competition included photography. Approximately 400 photographs were entered, and 42 won the Official Selections awards. Their works will be on display at the Caelum Gallery in Chelsea in NYC in October. Rachel and Jordan will be eligible for best in the category and best overall, which includes a four-year scholarship to the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Winners will be announced in October.

Posnack School’s Darby N. is attending the prestigious Southeastern Summer Theatre Institute on Hilton Head Island. The program only accepts the top 20% of of auditioning students. Darby joined students from 25 states and 4 countries in a production of Young Frankenstein. She had the opportunity to work with Jenn Collela, Tony-nominated actor, from Come From Away now on Broadway. College advisors from Pace University, University of Michigan and Carnegie Mellon came to work with students on preparing for college auditions.

Class of 2017 graduate and award-winning photographer, Emily Baratz’s works were exhibited recently at the Rubenstein Gallery in North Miami where they will be featured for sale. The photographs will also be sold on the gallery’s on-line store. Earlier this year Emily won ‘Best Color Photograph In Show’ (above) at the Congressional Art Competition at Nova Southeastern University. She is also the recipient of several Scholastic Art gold and silver key awards.
