Students Create Memorial for Yom HaShoah

Sixth Grade students made a classroom mural tribute to the memory of the child victims of the Holocaust for Yom HaShoah. After learning about Israel’s national Holocaust memorial, Yad Vashem, students fashioned a memorial plaque in the shape of a hand. Yad is the word for hand in Hebrew. Each plaque has the name, picture, and information about an individual that the students researched. At the top of the mural is the verse from Isaiah, “I will make them… a memorial (yad) and a name (va’shem)…. an everlasting name that will not be cut off.”
