Dear Posnack Parents and Community:

What a fantastic 2013-14 school year!  My third year as your Head of School.

Those who know me, know that I am passionate about Jewish Day schools. In my humble opinion, a Jewish Day school is critical to the vitality and longevity of any Jewish community. Our Rabbi’s teach us that a community with a Jewish cemetery means that Jews once lived there. A community with a synagogue means that there is an existing Jewish community. A community with a Jewish school means there is a community with a Jewish future.

Everyday our school takes care of and educates your children. It is an awesome responsibility. What is extra special about being part of a school like Posnack is that we are not only educating future lawyers, doctors, teachers, inventors, business men and women, citizens, and more, we are also witnessing the growth of the future of the Jewish people… and we are doing it with front row seats.

Admittedly, it is challenging to be a student in a Jewish Day school. Not only are our children expected to learn math, science, English, and history but they also have to apply themselves to become proficient in Hebrew language and Torah. One can say it is twice the work. Is it worth it?

I say, unequivocally, YES! We are teaching our children that there is more to life than which college one attends or the profession one chooses. Who they become as a person is just as important, if not more. There is something “extra” that a child receives as being part of a Jewish Day school. That “extra” is hard to put into words, but it is there.

I hope all of our parents felt a sense of warmth knowing their child was in our school. We will continue to strive to offer them the finest instruction by an exceptional staff in all subjects. But we will also always offer that something extra. And that is what makes our Jewish Day School, the David Posnack Jewish Day School so important and special.

Once again, we have concluded a school year that matters to the future of the Jewish people. Once again, our school has sent a message that our community has a vibrant Jewish future. From my seat in the front row, I can assure you that the future of the Jewish people shines like the brightest star.

It is an honor and a privilege to be your Head of School. We thank all of our parents for their support, countless volunteering hours, and confidence.  Our school’s successes would not be possible without your energy and heart-felt participation.

May Hashem bless all of our Posnack families with a safe and exciting Summer of 2014. I hope it is full of wonderful memories! The entire administration will be here throughout the summer working diligently to get ready for the opening of the 2014-15 school year. It’s only ten weeks away!

Remember our school is running a full complement of courses throughout the summer. For more information, please call the school and ask for our Summer School Principal, Stewart Klawsky.

A special congratulations to our Class of 2014! Once a Ram, always a Ram! All of our graduates are encouraged to come back and visit.

I look forward to sharing with all of our Posnack families all the new and exciting news about our school’s growth, including the building of our new high school building and Ram gym throughout the summer. As previously announced, we look forward to breaking ground on the new high school complex at the beginning of next school year. Stay tuned for many more exciting details!

For years to come, may our school be blessed with the strength to continue to nurture and lead the future of the Jewish people with koach and middot (strength and values).

Have a wonderful Summer of 2014!

Shabbat Shalom,

Dr. Richard Cuenca
Head of School
