Dr. Richard Cuenca’s Friday Letter: Welcome to Our 44th Year!

Dear Posnack School Families,

Welcome to the start of the 2017-18 school year — our 44th Year!!!

It was over four decades ago that a small group of thoughtful and committed Jewish parents convened to discuss the opening of a new Jewish day school. They were driven by a passion for educating their children. They wanted the very best math, science, history, and language arts instruction for their children, but they also wanted much more — a school that embodied at its core the Torah values and teachings that have served the Jewish people for generations.

On Wednesday, August, 23, 2017, forty-four years from our school’s humble beginnings, the David Posnack Jewish Day School will again open its doors with pride to welcome over 700 children and 160 faculty and staff. Thank you to all our Posnack School families for believing in the Posnack Way and for making this historic growth of our school possible!

Our school’s mission seeks to offer our children:

A Deep Jewish Connection — one that shapes a student’s identity, morality, spirituality, and personal connection to Jewish knowledge and traditions, the State of Israel, and the Jewish people.

Academic Excellence — challenging students to seek the highest standards of achievement in Jewish texts, English language and literature, Hebrew language and literature, science, mathematics, social studies, prayer, Jewish laws and observances, physical education, art, music, drama, and technology.

Leadership — providing leadership experiences for our students to build the foundations necessary to embrace a vibrant Jewish future.

As this school year commences, we are proud to celebrate the exciting opening of our new state-of-the-art Marcia and Joel Hochberg Middle School building and dining hall. Please join us on Monday, August 21 at 7:00pm in the RAM Gym for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony (see the invitation below).

Also, please visit our Posnack School website ( for the latest information regarding important new school year forms and orientation schedules. If you have any questions about the start of the new school year, please contact your child’s Principal.

On behalf of our Board of Trustees led by our Chair Harry Warticovschi and our Posnack School faculty and staff, I wish all our Posnack School families a wonderful and meaningful 2017-18 school year.

May we all be worthy of the Jewish blessing mei’chayil el chayil — from strength to strength.
