Dear Posnack Parents and Students,

It is the Friday before our annual winter break. The first semester of the 2014-2015 school year is now completed and for many of us, this time of year is regarded as the halfway point of the school year (even though technically, we reach the exact mid-point in late January). As we complete the first semester, I want to thank all of our parents and volunteers who work tirelessly to help make the David Posnack Jewish Day school an exemplary independent school. We have a dynamic and energetic school community made up of dedicated parents who answer the call time and time again to help our school. Thank you to all our parents for believing in the Posnack Difference.

As this semester draws to a close, the sounds of construction reverberate throughout the campus. Those sounds represent an exciting future of growth for our school. Construction of the new state-of-the-art Paul and Maggie Fischer High School containing new science labs, music studios, cutting-edge black box theater, media center, lecture hall and double the number of classrooms, not to mention an amazing Ram Gym, are well under way. When we return from our well-deserved break, the walls of the new Paul and Maggie Fischer High School will have risen to welcome us.

At Posnack, our approach to growth and expansion is reflective, thoughtful, and carefully planned. A great deal of study has gone into our thinking and we believe strongly that the direction Posnack is moving is the most effective way in which to enhance our school’s bright future. We are positioning ourselves to be at the forefront of education and leaders of our greater Jewish community. Together, we can make a difference not only for our children and this generation but for those who will follow.

I thank all of our Posnack families who have already pledged their support for our Promise Campaign. Each of you has helped form the foundation from which our new high school building will rise.

For those that are interested in supporting this project, I invite you to join with us to make the Posnack Difference mean more than ever before in our history by contacting Jen Goetz our Fundraising Coordinator at or ext. 244.

The David Posnack Jewish Day School is on the move! Together we will continue the traditions of our school’s storied history, and embark on a journey that leads to a brilliant future for our children.

Have a wonderful and safe winter break.

Shabbat Shalom and Happy Chanukah,

Dr. Richard Cuenca
Head of School
