Survivor Armin Krauss Addresses Students on Yom HaShoah
On Yom HaShoah, Posnack School hosted Holocaust survivor Armin Krauss, marking the occasion with a special assembly to commemorate the tragic events of the Shoah. The event was organized by Fisher High School student Samantha C. who leads the Fischer High School Holocaust Awareness Club.
Mr. Krauss spoke to upper school students about his experiences living in a German ghetto, then later at the Magdeburg barracks of the Terezin concentration camp, followed by Auschwitz, finally being liberated from Buchenwald, April 11, 1945. This Yom HaShoah marked the 63rd year since his liberation by the U.S. forces.
Mr. Krauss spoke about how he put his life back together first as a “chicken plucker” and then as a successful investor. Most impressive of all was his positive attitude. He reminded students of how fortunate they are to be living in the United State, telling them: “You, students, must understand that you are living in the best country in the world. Support democracy. I know the difference!”
