The David Posnack Jewish Day School (“Posnack School”) is committed to respecting your privacy and protecting any personal information you share with us to the best of our ability. You can visit our website without revealing personal information. In some cases, however, we may ask for personal information in order to provide the services you request. Such information will be used by Posnack School only to conduct official school business and will never be disseminated by Posnack School to any unaffiliated third party, except as otherwise provided in this Privacy Policy (the “Privacy Policy”). All of the information that we collect from you is subject to this Privacy Policy.  By using this site, you agree to be bound by these terms.

We recognize the value of your privacy and encourage you to read this entire Privacy Policy as it sets forth our policies with respect to personal information you provide us through our website (the “Site”).  Other privacy practices may apply to information you provide to us through other channels.  “Personal Identifiable Information” (“PII”) refers to information that allows us to identify you, such as your name, address, zip/postal codes, telephone number, organization name if applicable, e-mail address, etc.

Our Site is intended to provide news and information about Posnack School. We will make all reasonable efforts to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of content; however, we are not making any promises about the up-to-date accuracy of any content and encourage you to contact the school before relying upon any such content.

No part of this Site or its contents – including, but not limited to, the school logo – may be copied, reproduced, modified, retransmitted, distributed, published, commercially exploited or otherwise transferred without written permission from Posnack School.

We maintain this Site for informational purposes and in order to facilitate your interaction with us.  At our Site, we only collect PII when voluntarily and knowingly submitted by a visitor.  You can have general access to our Site and browse pages describing our school without providing any PII or being required to register at our Site.  However, you may not be able to access all parts of our Site or interact with us online without supplying PII.  For example, you may need to provide us with your PII in order to complete online forms, fill out applications, or make a donation. If you ask to receive additional information, we will ask you to provide us with previously submitted PII, so we can contact you to respond to your request.  We also will receive your PII if you submit it to us when you e-mail comments to the Site.

By visiting our Site, you may have the opportunity to request information from Posnack School, in which case an e-mail or other contact information may be required in order to allow us to comply with your request, and for other purposes as may be disclosed at the time the request is made. If you request information from Posnack School, we may add your e-mail address and/or other contact information to our mailing list and contact you from time to time. You may elect to opt-out of receiving communications other than those relating to a specific query by following the procedures in “How to Request Changes or Opt-Out of Future Communications” (below).

We may use the PII you submit to us for any lawful purpose, including, but not limited to the following:

• To provide Posnack School’s services, including processing applications for admission and financial aid, providing instruction, creating student and parent directories, and registering you or your child for Posnack School programs and services;
• To respond to your inquiries and requests;
• To fundraise and process financial donations;
• To communicate with Site visitors, students, parents, applicants, alumni, and others;
• To provide updates, surveys, and other content that may be of interest to you;
• For business purposes, such as analytics, research, advertising and marketing, payment processing, and operational purposes;
• To maintain, operate, customize, and improve the Site;
• To comply with law enforcement and maintain the security of our Site and our School; or
• As otherwise disclosed at the time of collection or use.

We may share the PII we have collected through this Site with other parties including, to the extent permitted by law:

• With the parents/guardians of a student;
• With our teachers and other employees of Posnack School;
• At your direction or request, such as providing student information to third parties related to standardized testing, transfers to a new school, in connection with financial aid applications and administration, or applications and placement for higher education;
• With accreditation, oversight, and research authorities;
• With other members of our Posnack School community, such as but not limited to the publication of student and parent directories;
• With our Posnack School alumni, such but not limited to the publication of alumni directories;
• With unaffiliated third parties, attorneys, accountants and advisors who provide Posnack School with assistance or advice or are under contract to perform services for or on behalf of Posnack School (collectively, “Service Providers”), who will be required to uphold and maintain our policies with respect to privacy, confidentiality and the treatment of your PII, provided that any Service Provider access to such information will be limited to the purpose for which such information was provided to our Service Provider;
• With the David Posnack JCC and/or Jewish Federation of Broward County;
• With persons as permitted by applicable law or regulation;
• With law enforcement personnel and agencies, as part of a legal process, if otherwise compelled to do so by law or in connection with any government or self-regulatory organization request or investigation, in order to protect our property or in furtherance of an investigation regarding a breach of the Site rules and policies, unauthorized access to or use of the Site or any other illegal activities, or to protect our rights or the rights or safety of third parties, including in connection with a health or safety emergency and in connection with disciplinary proceedings; or
• With your consent (on behalf of yourself or as a student’s parent/guardian) or as otherwise disclosed at the time of data collection or sharing.

We do not sell your PII or exchange this information with other organizations for purposes of solicitation.

The Site contains email addresses of faculty and staff and (within the password-protected parts of the site) Posnack School parents. Use of this information for commercial, or political mailings and/or distribution to any outside party is strictly prohibited. Posnack School is committed to protecting the privacy of our students and their families. We do not post the full names of students on the public pages of our Site. Images of students are used on the public pages of the Site; however, students are never identified by full name in images. Within the password-protected pages of the site, use of students’ full names is allowed and students can also be identified by full name in images.

At Posnack School, we are very concerned with the safety and security of your sessions on our Site, the information you provide us online, and any transactions you conduct with us online. We have implemented and maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards consistent with industry standard protocol to help guard your nonpublic personal information, including to protect against the loss, misuse, interception, access and alteration of information you send us.  We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those of our employees and our agents who need to know the information to enable us to provide our services to you and we emphasize to them the importance of maintaining the security, confidentiality and integrity of your personal information.  We utilize SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology, which encrypts our visitors’ credit card numbers, names, and addresses. That being said, we do not take any responsibility for any failure on the part of third-party programs or any unauthorized use of your data.
