Students Premiere Holocaust Documentary
This week, we had the honor of showing the premiere screening of Names Not Numbers© A Movie in the Making, a Holocaust documentary by Hochberg Middle School 8th Grade students.
For the fourth year in a row, Posnack Jewish Day School was selected to participate in Names, Not Numbers© INC: an interactive, multi-media Holocaust film documentary project created by educator, Tova Fish-Rosenberg (www.namesnotnumbers.org). This program transforms the traditional study of the Holocaust into an interactive history program focused on the survivors’ lived experiences. Eighth Grade students, under the direction of Mrs. Shira Greenberg, engaged in serious, meaningful dialogue with the survivors and forged relationships with them. Throughout the program, the students worked with professional journalists, filmmakers, and Holocaust scholars.
Posnack School is grateful for being chosen to participate in this project which is generously supported by a prominent national foundation. Posnack School gratefully acknowledges the support of the Jewish Federation of Broward County for sponsoring the program this year, as well. The support of both organizations is instrumental to the continuation of this program, and we are honored to have their partnership.
