Senior Emmy B. Attends National Best Buddies Leadership Conference

Fischer High School senior Emmy B. recently attended the Best Buddies Leadership conference at Indiana University. Emmy, who leads the school’s Best Buddies Club, declared the conference lifechanging, saying that the event allowed her to understand “what the Best Buddies mission truly is about.” Best Buddies works to create opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) including jobs and other experiences to make them feel included. While she was at the conference she had the chance to hear people speak about their disabilities and the struggles they had gone through. She said, “Best Buddies is an organization that wants people with IDD to be able to live their lives as they should without judgement or of the feeling that they don’t belong. Being able to attend this conference made me realize how important it is to be inclusive in this world. Thank you Best Buddies for this opportunity!”
