Posnack Lower School Visual Arts Students Present “Planting our eARTh with Seeds of Color”

Students in Ms. Bernstein’s 4th and 5th Grade classes have been studying the importance of recycling and the connection to the arts. Students began by sorting and testing old markers and then placing the markers in water bottles to create a rainbow of colors. By studying color theory and the effects of water levels in the bottles students were able to mix, change, and combine hues to create tints, shades, and create new colors. The installation has brought color, joy, and happiness to our Posnack School family and campus. Lower school visual arts students will continue the process of making bottles and, in return, the students will have the opportunity to paint with all their newly-created watercolors. Middle school photography students have had the wonderful experience of photographing the bottles and trees to create beautiful compositions.
