Top Awards for Fischer High School Innovators

Kol ha-kavod to our Fischer High School students who participated in the CIJE NY/NJ and local Florida robotics competitions.

The Florida competition had 120 students and 30 projects. The Posnack School RoboFil team, whose project autonomously fixes potholes, earned first prize. The MPT (Motor Powered Tourniquet) earned 2nd prize with their device to have a tourniquet automatically do all the work required to cut off blood flow and save lives. A Posnack School team also earned the most innovative award for “Gumguage,” a device that checks the pocket depth of gumlines and sends that information to a computer, replacing current methods.

In the NJ/NY competition, the RoboFil group won best pitch for giving a great speech and PowerPoint presentation about how their innovation would address critical road issues and how the market needs this device. The team also went home with a new connection when people at the competition agreed to put them in touch with the mayor of Newark. MPT earned an honorable mention for their product and several military personnel were interested in the project’s long-term development.  This was the first time Posnack School teams earned an award at the NJ/NY event.  Over 1400+ students, 500+ projects, and 40+ schools presented at this event.
