Last month, the Hochberg Middle School National Junior Honor Society held a toy drive to benefit the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. The drive collected 400 items brought in by middle school students and staff. Kol ha-kavod! Click for photos and details.

Thanks to scholarship support from the Jewish Federation of Broward County, Posnack School sent its largest ever delegation to this year’s AIPAC Policy Conference. Over 30 Posnack School students lobbied Congress to keep Israel safe and secure. Fischer High School students had the honor to meet Florida Senator Rick Scott while lobbying on Capitol Hill.

Hochberg Middle School 8th Grade students visited the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Miami Beach as part of a culminating activity for their study of the Holocaust. Click or details and photos.

Class of 2003 alum, Jeremy Taub, brought in his grandfather, Mr. Weiser, to speak with Hochberg Lower and Fischer High School students about how Mr. Weiser survived hidden as an infant during the Holocaust. Click for details.

The Hochberg Middle School Lunch & Learn for students in grades 6, 7, and 8 had a strong start. At the first lunch, students learned about Purim and why G-d’s name is not mentioned in the Megillah. Sessions are led by Rabbi Samuel Strauss and Mr. Andrew Leibowitz, and take place in the Salama Media Center every other Monday. The next Lunch & Learn will take place on March 9. Click for details.

Our 1st grade students visited the theater to see a set of short plays about the tall tales of Oscar Wilde.

Posnack School student Sofia G. was awarded one of two grand prizes in the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery’s Teen Portrait Competition. Sofia won the grand-prize for ages 13–15 with her portrait “ What I Am, What I Think.” Students Liana M. and Ellie M. were finalists in the competition. Kol ha-kavod. Click for details.

In honor of Jewish Disability Awareness and Inclusion Month the 6th Grade communal minyan got to hear from special visitor, Mayor Judy Cuenca. Mayor Cuenca shared with the students about her struggles with her eyesight. Click for photos and details.
